Caribbean Afterburner - Cocktail Recipe

Wondering how to make Caribbean Afterburner? Cocktail Builder will help!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz of Bacardi 151 rum (alt: overproof rum)
  • 1/2 oz of blue curacao liqueur
  • Instructions

WARNING: Method used below involves igniting spirits and is essential for the desired taste and unique effect. Only perform in an area free from detritus and flammable objects. So don't sit near a curtain or drape. Please.

Once poured into a glass [ideally tumbler or rocks style] the spirits should be ignited and briefly poured to a second, and identical, empty glass set aside beforehand. Instantly extinguish the flaming spirits by putting the original glass rim to rim with the second and forming a seal. Wait 10 seconds after the spirits have been extinguished to let excess heat diminish, then crack the seal slightly and inhale the lingering vapors. Immediately afterwards, remove the top glass altogether and down the liquid contents in one swift movement.
